    I believe what you are describing is called hysteresis, the effect of starting and stopping the hydraulic pulses in the piping. Also closely related to the control of hydraulic shock waves (hammer) and accumulator effect. Can turn in to some very messy calculations.

    Line length would be tuned to minimize the negative effects.
